I had some free time between work meetings in Castle Dale today, so I made a quick trip out to the Rochester rock art panel. I've visited this site a couple times before, but the light was always wrong for photos. This time around, I lucked out!
The Rochester panel is totally overwhelming -- it's a large arch surrounded by hundreds of bizarre figures. I notice something new every time I visit, but my favorites are definitely the owl and the three toothy monsters.
To get to the Rochester Panel from the town of Emery, drive 3.5 miles north on highway 10. Take the turnoff to the town of Moore. Drive east 0.6 miles to the "Rochester Rock Art Panel" sign, then turn right. Follow the well-maintained gravel road 4 miles to a large parking area. The hike is only 1/2 mile, and the trail is fairly easy to follow.
