Welcome to Red Rock Rangers!

Thanks for stopping by!  We're Sarah and Jordan -- two married outdoor nuts based in St. George, Utah.  When we're not at our 9-5 jobs as a park ranger and a wildlife technician, we try to spend every waking moment on awesome outdoor adventures in southern Utah (and beyond!)  Hiking, backpacking, paddling, and canyoneering get our blood pumping, and our travel blog is full of trail descriptions and photography to inspire you to get out on your next adventure!

Southern Utah is epic.  It’s an insanely wild place full of soaring red cliff, sinuous slot canyons, and raging whitewater rivers.  But … it can be a little overwhelming.  If you only have a week’s vacation to explore, where the $@&! do you start?  That’s where Red Rock Rangers comes in.

Jordan and I moved to southern Utah eight years ago.  That’s long enough for this place to feel like home, but not long enough that it doesn’t shock us every single weekend.  (Seriously, how is that sky so blue?)  This blog started off as a way to convince our families we weren’t totally nuts for moving to Utah, but it quickly turned into a way to inspire other people to explore the desert.

We want to make this gorgeous landscape a little less intimidating for both adrenaline junkies and beginning hikers.  Whether you want to a hardcore mountain biking ride in Moab or a leisurely stroll in Zion National Park, we’ve got you covered.  With any luck, our route descriptions and honest reviews will help you weed through the seemingly endless list of Utah adventures and plan a trip you’ll be talking about for years.

Latest on the Blog

Not sure where to go hiking this weekend?  Never fear -- we have over 250 blog entries to get you inspired for your next adventure in southern Utah.  Whether you're heading out for a quick weekend trip or an epic two-month hike, the travel blog is full of detailed route descriptions, maps, and colorful photography to get you started.

Adventures by Location

Use our interactive adventure map to plan your next weekend trip.  Most trips are hikes in southern Utah, but if you’re feeling feisty, they range from Alaska to Costa Rica!  Adventures are color-coded by activity (hikes, rock art, paddling, hot springs, mountain biking, etc.)  You can zoom in and click on the marker for GPS coordinates, route descriptions, and photos.  Lace up your hiking boots, pack up your kayak, and start exploring!
